The Lincoln Group of DC (LGDC) is the steward of Lincoln memory in the Washington, DC region and across the country. We recently urged caution on proposed changes to the Lincoln Memorial itself (read here), and the group has now also provided input through the National Park Service comment process on the proposed arch in the sightline between the Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The following PDF was submitted under the name of the current LGDC president, Ed Epstein, and composed largely by another former president, John O’Brien, with input from the other LGDC board members. As the immediate past president of LGDC, I provided input and concur with the statement. I also provided a separate statement as an individual citizen.
